STREAM

The STREAM project aims to contribute to resilient groundwater management in the Wissenbos catchment (Gete, Flanders, Belgium). As the region faces problems of drought, flooding, erosion and loss of peat, the project uses a data-driven approach using hydraulic head and groundwater flux sensors to understand the groundwater system and its connection with surface waters and land management in the area. A groundwater flow model is developed by the VUB to simulate the potential effect of management practices in the area such as changes in the ditch network and controlled drainage.
